Sophie Pennes of Urban Farms LA will show you the ins and outs of at-home edible gardens as well as how to incorporate growing food with native plants. Topics covered will include but are not limited to: sun, soil, the challenges and benefits of raised beds vs. container gardens vs. in-ground gardens, planting for the seasons, irrigation and most notably, Sophie’s experiences from the past decade of managing edible gardens.

This class will be held online via Zoom and recorded. Login instructions will be included in the registration confirmation. Students will have access to a recording of the class for 48 hours after the live event.

Sophie Pennes is the founder of Urban Farms LA, an edible and native gardening service that designs, builds & maintains landscapes for businesses and homes in LA County. A dedicated advocate for the environment, Sophie hopes to inspire others to create a culture more dedicated to protecting the plant and animal species with which we live, and the planet as a whole. Sophie believes that with more interaction and understanding of the natural world, citizens will rise up to protect it.
