Our local environment needs native plants! Through the seed-collection process, students will explore our native environment and the habitat it creates for all. This hands-on workshop explores the rich possibility of a native plant seed. Students will be introduced to basic seed physiology, engage in a mini field excursion to collect, clean seed for planting using the processing tools of the trade, and take home their processed seed and field kits for at-home continued exploration and learning!
Sunscreen, hats, and closed-toe shoes are advised. Bring your refillable water bottle, and be ready to explore! Ages 7 and up. A parent or guardian is not required but welcome to attend.
Genevieve Arnold is Seed Program Manager and Diana Sherwood is K-12 Educator at Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers & Native Plants in Sun Valley.
The Kids SeedLab Workshop is offered by the Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers & Native Plants in collaboration with California Native Plant Society—San Gabriel Mountains Chapter and Eaton Canyon Nature Center Associates.
