Learn about Native Plants

Learn at TPFTheodore Payne Foundation provides educational opportunities for all ages and abilities, from K-12 students to professional landscapers. Programs are held year round at our Sun Valley Headquarters, online and at satellite locations in throughout greater Los Angeles.

In November of 2015, Theodore Payne Foundation opened the La Fetra Nature Education Center. The Center serves as a headquarters for our education programs. Come learn about the amazing diversity, environmental benefits and beauty of California native plants from expert gardeners, naturalists, designers and horticulturists! The La Fetra Education Center is currently closed to the public due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and all offerings are currently hosted through zoom. We look forward to resuming in person classes when it is safe to do so.

The Foundation brings vital information on sustainable gardening into local neighborhoods through:

 • Classes and workshops for adults and families, taught by engaging and knowledgeable instructors
• School programs for K-12 students, including field trips to TPF, school-site programs, and school garden design assistance
• Landscaper Certification
The Speakers Bureau for community organizations
• Resources for new and experience native plant gardeners, including our online Native Plant Database, plant guides, our blog, the Wild Flower Hotline, and annual Native Plant Garden Tour.
