Wild Flower Hotline:
Submit a Report
Know of a wildflower hotspot?
Our Wild Flower Hotline Reports are populated by weekly submissions from field reporters across Southern and Central California. During our active season (March–May) we are always in search of more submissions!
Anyone can submit a single report or submit all season long, no commitment required.
Submission Guidelines
- Anyone is welcome to submit observation reports to our hotline.
- All sites must be on public lands (no PRIVATE property) that are accessible to hikers. If possible, please note roads, parking, and trail heads.
- Do not list every plant that is flowering in your viewing area. Note plants that are plentiful and make good displays. Please do not submit any information on rare plants or sensitive habitats that you are aware of.
- Inclusion of scientific names is helpful but not required. Common names are sufficient.
- Note any hazards in the viewing area like road/trail closures, flooding, slides, erosion, thickets of poison oak, etc.
- Wildflowers are ephemeral, and wither quickly with warm weather. Please only submit material that is current (within the previous 10 days of our Friday posting).
- We encourage you to include photos with your submission. Please include your name as we will credit any photos used in our written Wild Flower Report.
- Reports sent in by end of day Tuesday will be published the following Friday.
Additionally, we want to promote your site’s wildflower-themed events! Please send in notices with event information at least two weeks prior to the event using the submission link below. Please note that we can only promote a limited number of events, which are chosen at our discretion.
